How do you display your street address on your house? Do you have an address plaque. Do you have your address painted on the curb. (We don't have a curb.) Do you have the numbers nailed on your house, or do you just let the numbers on your mailbox suffice? Maybe you have one of those solar rocks with your address on it.
Last weekend we took the teenagers to the mountains to go skiing. It happened to snow just about all day long. It was great fun, except for the trip up the mountain. The resort we chose to ski at happened to be the highest elevated ski area in the East. This meant that we had to drive way up the mountain. That was fine until the road started getting slick and we had to make these hairpin turns going up at a very sharp angle. Thankfully we did not slide off the road down the side of the mountain. Brittany came with us and made sure that she packed some of her "My Little Pony" band aids. Thankfully we did not need any supplies from her little emergency kits.
I used to love clocks. Spencer loves watches.........not cheap ones either. He has one watch that he really liked, but the band broke and the battery went dead. For Christmas, I decided to get him a new watch instead of fixing the old one. I'm sure he'll get the old one fixed one day, but first............I think he should get me a grandfather clock.

Open house

Yesterday we braved the cold, windy, rainy elements and went to see a couple of open houses. The first house we stopped at was one that I have been keeping my eye on for a little while. It exceeded my already high expectations. It has four bedrooms, but two of the bedrooms upstairs have their own bonus rooms. The people that own the house now use one of the bonus rooms as a bedroom, but the other bonus room they use as a playroom. They have painted one whole wall with black chalkboard paint making a massive chalkboard. What home schooling parent wouldn't drool over that? The next house wasn't nearly as interesting. The best things we saw were the pens and magnetic calendars the realtor gave us.

It's Almost Clean!

See here for the "before" and I'm sure it will soon be the "after" picture again.

Scenery

Took the teens to the mountains to ski this past Saturday.

It started snowing after we got there and snowed almost all day.

This is a sunset on the way to church the other night.

Happy Birthday, Spencer!

This is a side of Spencer that most people do not see, but we are privileged to see quite often. His stupid craziness makes us all laugh.
Yesterday was his birthday. Happy Birthday!

OW!

Sierra loves this candy machine at Pizza Inn. However, she got her head stuck in the hole in the bottom one day when she was being over zealous in her quest for candy. After much maneuvering, Spencer got her freed. I think she has learned her lesson.

Get Out There and Exercise!

Some people think that they need a metabolism booster. However, there are quite a few natural things that people can do to naturally boost their metabolism. They just don't want to take the effort to do these things. Get out and walk; do an exercise video; go swimming; join a health club. I know for me the hardest part is just getting started. Once I get going, I really enjoy it.

Diet Pills Again

Here's an interesting study on diet pills. This is supposed to be a comparison of the best diet pills. I don't know how official this study is considering that quite a few of the pills are for sale on this site. I personally have never met anyone that has used diet pills, but they must quite a money maker.
Have you ever noticed that death seems to come in threes? When someone passes away, I start wondering who's next. I know that is really morbid, but it is true. Do you ever wonder what to say to the bereaved or wonder what kind of sympathy gifts to give them? Sometimes it is so hard. There have been quite a few people that we know pass away lately. We send our sympathy and prayers to all their families.

Painting

As some of you know, I love to try out different faux painting techniques. I haven't had much of a chance to try out anything recently, but we are redoing our bathroom, and eventually we will be painting it. I don't know if I'll get a chance to try out anything fun anytime soon because of this pregnancy, but we'll see. I had this site for house painting ideas sent to me. You might want to check it out.

A House No Longer Divided

When I moved up here, one of the first questions I would get was, "Who do you pull for?"

HUH???? Now I understand. There are quite a few major colleges around here and they are quite close together, so you HAVE to pick one that you "pull" for. My first answer was, I don't really care who wins what. Then, I remembered back to my high school days when we were on a Junior/Senior trip in 1992 and we were watching the college basketball finals. The two teams playing were Duke and Kentucky. I had a friend named Krista who was from Kentucky and who was desperately wanting her home state team to win. I therefore began to hope that Duke would win, and they did. After I moved up here and HAD to pick a team, I figured I might as well stick with Duke. When I met Spencer, I eventually got asked the inevitable question, and my answer was Duke. "Oh no! You can't like them!" was his answer. He is a die hard UNC Tarheels fan. I guess I've slowly moved over to his side of the fence because I was actually happy that UNC won against Duke last week. Of course our children have already been brainwashed to believe that the Tarheels are the best.

Help Me!

I need some energy pills! Whew! this pregnancy stuff is tough! You should see my house. Wait! Don't! In fact don't come to my house until this next baby is a little over a year old. You think I'm kidding? Well, I'm not. It usually takes me that long to get myself and my house back together. Let me clarify that the house is not quite as bad as the girls' room, but, if I can't get over this all day sickness and tiredness, I'm going to have quite a job cut out for me to catch up on!

This picture is Brittany's creation of me.
I have never had the desire to go to Las Vegas. A place that has the reputation as "Sin City" just has no appeal for me. There is a good church out there though that is having really good success talking to people about the Lord. I heard that knocking on doors works really well in that area. I wonder if they ever knock on the doors of these Las Vegas Luxury Condos. Around here every door that you knock on has a "Christian" behind it. It must be neat to be able to witness to people who know that they really do need the Lord.
I feel so sorry for some celebrities. They are searching for something to fill their emptiness. Take people like Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, and you name whoever else. I guess you can add Anna Nicole Smith to that list too. It is so sad.--- two guys fighting over a dead woman's baby, requesting DNA testing. People are so empty. Partying is what they do to fill the void that only Jesus can fill. The sad thing is that all their mess ups are out there for the whole world to see and make fun of. I would hate to have that kind of attention on me!

Getting Organized?

My girls sleep in bunk beds in a little room with a little closet. They have very little space for their stuff so I began looking around for different storage options. I drooled over different types of kids bedroom furniture, looked at under the bed storage drawers, baskets, and whatever else is out there. I finally opted on some cute canvas baskets from Lowe's that matched their room and put them under their bed. I was so excited to have space to put most of their things. Now I'm not so sure that I did the right thing. They have discovered that the baskets are great entertainment when they are supposed to be lying down for bed. Do you see that picture?!? I have cleaned their room thoroughly once a week and this is what I have to show for it. I'm not saying that I don't make them help me clean, but when there is that big of a mess, it's discouraging even for a grown up!
As I mentioned earlier, we are thinking about taking an" Orlando Vacation." Does anyone have any good suggestions on places to stay? I'm keeping an eye on the link above as well as a few others such as the Nickolodeon Holiday Inn and the Disney World Resort Motels. Needless to say, my Walt Disney World favorites folder is growing. The link above had really good prices a couple of weeks ago, but the prices have almost doubled in the last couple of weeks. Maybe they'll go back down near the end of the year.

Ways to go to heaven

I grew up in the Southern part of Texas; also known as the northern part of Mexico. Of course, that meant that there was a very high population of Catholics. It was no strange thing to see statues in people's front yards, or to see them cross themselves as they drove down the highway past the famous shrine of San Juan in Pharr. (It used to be a little shrine until a Baptist Missionary got very angry at the religion and flew his plane into the little shrine. Of course the shrine got built back bigger and better and is quite famous.) What I find so sad about the Catholic religion is that it makes works a means of salvation which is contrary to the Bible verse that says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us." People work so hard to pay the price to go to heaven when Jesus has already done that for us, and all we have to do is ask Him to save us from our sins. A lot of times children are convinced of their salvation by taking communion and receiving first communion gifts, or by being confirmed into their religion. As Christians we need to make sure that people receive the true Bible message of salvation and not let them be duped into believing the Devil's lies about how they can go to heaven.

Been Sick

I haven't been really faithful in putting anything up here lately for a reason. I have been not feeling well due to morning sickness. Yep! We're expecting baby number 4. Like I told my doctor, I enjoy the children most of the time, but I sure hate the pregnancy. Anyway, this one is due September 20.

Winter and Spring

We've had 70 degree weather late into the season. Early spring plants have begun to come through and then, snow? It was gone by the end of the day, but as you can tell, it was enjoyed.

Happy Birthday, Zach!

Zach's birthday was yesterday and God blessed him with the first snowfall we've had in two years. We are going to have a party for him next weekend, so we had a makeshift one for him yesterday. Happy Birthday, Zach!

Spencer and I are about ready to throw in the towel and buy some new furniture. We have a dining room table that has a set of legs on the right hand corner that just want to bend and move all over the place. We also have a futon that about cuts you in half when you sit on it. Have you ever tried to sit on medal rods? That’s about what we do every time we sit on our futon. I’m going to check into Powell Furniture and see if we can get any deals! We also might go on a furniture date tonight.
Have you ever used a touch screen machine? How about one that did not work? Do you have a touch screen yourself? Have you ever wondered where people get touch screen repair done? I hadn’t, but I guess this is one place that can do it. This site also does a lot of other types of repair for computers. Spencer likes to repair computers too. One day, it would be nice for him to have his own building full of computer parts everywhere.

My brother-in-law, Cameron, sold modular homes for a while and found a good little helper in his nephew, Zach. Zach would take some of Cameron’s business cards and just pass them out to anyone who he happened to talk to (which was anyone who would listen.) I don’t know if Cameron got any business from his helper, but you can’t say he didn’t get any advertisement!
