May

Just because I haven't written anything lately doesn't mean that we haven't been doing anything. This month has been full of wedding preparations, ball games, hospital visits, and a little family trip along with the usual church, school and work. My house has definitely been on the neglected side though. As soon as school is done, I'll be starting on that. Isn't she going to be pretty?
Loving Pepa in the hospital. He had hip replacement surgery right before his 78th birthday.

Too tired to lie down the right way.

The American Indian

My grandma was a champion for the American Indian. She always said that they were the most unfairly treated people in America. The other day, I really wished she were still around to have a deep conversation with her great grandson on this issue.
We just went over how the first Thanksgiving came about and how the Indians came to celebrate with the Pilgrims. That night, Zach was looking at his very favorite book on Indian history. It depicts some of the wars in American Indian history. After looking at the book, he came out to me and said, "Mom, did the fightings with the Indians happen first, or did the Thanksgiving happen first?" The next question was, "If we started off friends with them, then why did they start fighting us?" I told him, how we started taking their land and not keeping our promises with them, thus making them dislike us.
His reply was, "Well, that wasn't right! If we wouldn't have done that, they would have been nice to us."
I can only imagine my grandma's reply.

On Star

We have On Star in our vehicle. One of the perks is a built in telephone system.........supposedly a perk. You have to call out each number you would like to dial. The only problem is that the stupid thing can't understand me. It always repeats back to me something other than what I said. It makes me so mad. It doesn't even understand when I say the names of people that I programmed into the system. Spencer thinks it's so funny because he has absolutely no problems calling whoever he wants to call.
Anyway, those Ford commercials that show a woman saying, "Call, Mom." and the car calls Mom and makes the girl happy.........well, let's just say that when I try that, the system calls home, and when my husbands sees the commercial, he just looks at me and laughs.
Just so you don't think that I absolutely hate On Star, I will have to say that it has come in handy for us quite a few times. It's helped us when we got a flat tire as well as when I have lost my keys and needed something out of the vehicle before my husband got home. All in all it is a good system. I just wish the phone portion could understand me.

Fishing with Dad.

Strawberry picking and the results. Addison loved strawberries.

We took Zach for allergy testing the other day. It was more like a wrestling match when we got there. Our appointment was at 2:30 and we did not get out of the office until 5:30 because he fought so hard to not have the testing done. After I finally got Zach in a position where they could do the skin testing, we found out that he's allergic to quite a few varieties of trees, grasses, dust mites, cockroaches (I guess we won't be living in South Texas any time soon :) ) as well as beef, and different kinds of nuts. Our next course of action will be to decide whether or not we want him on allergy shots. Gotta look into all the side effects and such.

Why is it that I have nothing to write about, and all of a sudden there's a ton to write. I guess I'll be writing a little bit here and there over the next few days.
My first thing is a major pet peeve of mine. Why is it that people want to tell my kids what to do when I'm standing right there. Is it just me, or does that happen to anyone else? If it does, does it get on your nerves????????????
Next, my sister has finally finished my blog design. I like it very much. She has a business creating designs for people. Check out her website at http://www.designsbyrs.com/ . She does a great job, and it won't take as long to do yours as it did mine. :)

Bluegrass and Baroque???

I came across this CD today. It's a really odd mix of music, but I must say that I kind of like it.

Stair steps

A very late Christmas get together

My side of the family tried to get together for Christmas, but quite a few got deathly sick, and the rest of us didn't want it. We finally had our good times this last week.

My brother in law, Robert (in the bottom corner) brought his remote control helicopter. As you can see, everyone is intent on watching it.

My mom had this game where the kids were to have a race to see who could feed their adult the most water the fastest. Zach and my brother-in-law Robert won, but Spencer and Brittany had the most action. Other stars in the video are my brother Peter (in the glasses) with his little girl Moira and Sierra watching all the action.

Brittany got calmed down, but she still figured out a way to win. She's feeding Candace (Revka's oldest).

Cousins: Moira (Peter's girl), Alexandria (Revka's girl), Sierra (mine), and MacKenzie (another of Revka's)

Y'all are killing me

Pics of the Picture Takers

I thought these were too good to pass up.

"Come on Papa, make the two on the end smile and I'll work on the other two."

Let's see if that last shot turned out right.

(I don't know if that shot did, but the one on this end did!)

In My Opinion

I think the US should have a national primary day just like they have a national day to vote for the President.

Beautiful Days and Family Fun

The weather has been really nice lately, and we've been able to get outside. This is what happens when you're not used to the great outdoors. :)

I haven't really posted what we've done for family fun lately because it's been mostly things that I've already posted. The other night however, we played soccer in our den.......on our hands and knees. We "kicked" the ball around with our hands instead of our feet for some reason. It was actually quite fun.

Blustery Day

See the poor dilapidated shed to the left. It was a shelter for all our kids outside toys. I think this shed has been destined for doom for a while. Here was last summer when it got burned in the back by our neighbors negligence of her trash fire.

Today was the day of doom. It was so windy the wind finally picked the building up and blew it over backwards. Now the burnt backside is quite visible. Now it's time to sort through the toys. I was thinking about doing that anyway. :)

My mom's side of the family. This was the first time quite a few of us had ever seen each other.

Kids say the funniest things.

Tonight at supper we were talking about how long Brittany's hair is getting. She wants to grow it long and donate it to Locks of Love. After we were all done eating, Brittany said out of the blue and also with a grin, "Dad, I'll donate my hair to you." (He is going bald in the back.)
He said, "Why? Do I need it?
"Yes sir", she replied.
"Where?"
"In the back."
Poor Dad.

Sierra just got the concept that God loves her. She also prays as if she's talking about God rather than talking to Him. One night her prayer consisted of, "I love God, and God loves me, and I'm going to hug Him and kiss Him."
How sweet.
