Crazy Like a Fox........or Wolf?

There's this work at home commercial on TV. I guess the Fox is their mascot. Anyway, it shows all these people making a lot of money at home and how they must be "crazy like a fox." So, why is one of the websites that they give www.92wolf.com? I really am not doing a commercial for them. Spencer and I laugh every time we see it.

A Typical Shoshannah Moment

So, the phone rings the other day and shows a Texas number. The guy on the other line has a Texas drawl so I think it's my brother-in-law. By the way he starts the conversation, I thought for sure he was once again trying to pull another prank on me. So, I say, "Shut up, Rodney, you're so funny." The funny part was said rather sarcastically. The guy continues his conversation saying, "I know this may be an unusual phone call ma'am, but so and so gave me your number. After he mentioned the person's name, I realized that I REALLY wasn't talking to Rodney.
It was an evangelist trying to get in touch with Spencer so he could get in touch with our pastor to confirm that he was preaching at our church tonight. After much apologizing and explaining that I thought it was my brother-in-law on the phone, I gave the guy Spencer's work number. After I hung up I realized that I didn't explain that my brother-in-law plays prank calls on me, and that I really do get along with him even though I told him to shut up. OOOPPPPsss! I didn't even want to see the guy when he preached at church which worked out pretty well because I had to teach a class for VBS anyway.

So, I had been spring cleaning until my schedule got interupted for a week. I washed my kitchen walls after I took everything off of them, washed the curtains, washed the blinds, wiped down the molding, and wiped down everthing that had been hanging on the walls. I used my Swiffer duster for some things, but it couldn't quite handle the ceiling fan blades. It did work pretty well in places that I can't reach really well though. After this week of Vacation Bible School is over, I'll be hitting the rest of the house starting with the kitchen cabinets.

So, I was exercising this morning with my video and the girl said, "This is a lunge." Sierra said, "Stop the video, Mom! She said, 'It's time for lunch'!"

Smoke

There is a forest fire burning about a hundred miles from here, but the smoke and smell have definitely come our way. Yesterday, Zach woke up thinking I had made ham and eggs for breakfast because the smoke smell was in the house. Poor guy had to settle for Honey Nut Cheerios. These are pictures taken from under our carport looking out on the neighbors' yards. For those of you living in California, I know this is nothing new, but we live in North Carolina where things like this don't happen.

Ice Cream Cone

I grabbed the last box of cones at Wal-Mart the other day. When we got them out of the box, I realized I probably should have looked at the box more closely before I bought them.

I forgot these pics

Sierra refused to face the audience when she got to the front. We finally got her turned around when the bride got to the front.

HDTV

I know most people have cable TV, but for those that don't, the switch over from analog signal to digital will be mostly good. We have already bought a converter box, and the HD offers more channels with a better picture. There are a few drawbacks however. I saw a program explaining how much better HD will be than the analog signal. They said that the screen wouldn't roll and there'd be no funny colors. True. BUT what they did not mention is that when the signal is weak for HD you get these big old squares to distort the picture instead, and the sound pops in and out like a scratched DVD which is equally annoying. We probably will eventually invest in an outdoor antennae to get more channels and a better signal for some of the weak channels, but we do like having more options from PBS, as well as a few anytime weather channels and the Retro TV Network.

Gas Prices

Here's a link to petition put out by Newt Gingrich's group that we drill for oil in the US. There is no sense in paying such high gas prices when we have the means for it to be cheaper. There is also no sense in not drilling off the Florida coast when China is already doing it. Tell me how that saves our environment. AND, how can we save our environment if we can't save ourselves? Anyway, I know that it takes a while to set up all the drilling and refining, but if we would have done it 8 years ago we would almost be ready to produce for ourselves. So, let's get this thing started! I'm tired of high gas prices; how about you?

THE Bed Frame

I thought I'd take this picture as my husband was taking this thing down. See, there's a story here. We got this bed from someone who didn't need it any more, and our plans were to one day strip it and paint it again. It would be really pretty. That was until it began not holding our mattress anymore. The joints became loose and would wiggle apart enough that if you did not get in bed very carefully, you would find yourself lying down with your head at an angle considerably lower than your feet at the other end of the mattress. There have been times when the bed would fall for absolutely no apparent reason. My husband would get quite irritated at having to get out of bed in the middle of the night.........hence the hammer marks in the picture below. I know that makes you antique lovers cringe, but at least the bed wouldn't fall for the next 24 hours. I'm happy to report that we now have a new bed which will suffice for the time being. It's very low to the ground, but at least we won't have to worry about being awakened with a thud in the middle of a dream.

Turtles

We walked out in the yard the other day, and there was a turtle buried in our pine straw. He stayed there a while, but we had to take him to a park because he kept getting in places he might get killed.........like right under our back tire.
A few days later, at the same park where we dropped the first turtle off, we came across a quite big one that had been flipped on its back under a water fall. He was pitiful, and Spencer finally got him turned over. As you can see in the video, the turtle got out of there pretty quickly.

May

Just because I haven't written anything lately doesn't mean that we haven't been doing anything. This month has been full of wedding preparations, ball games, hospital visits, and a little family trip along with the usual church, school and work. My house has definitely been on the neglected side though. As soon as school is done, I'll be starting on that. Isn't she going to be pretty?
Loving Pepa in the hospital. He had hip replacement surgery right before his 78th birthday.

Tweetsie Railroad

Too tired to lie down the right way.
