Family Fun

For family fun this week, we played Uno Stacko and Don't Spill the Beans. Uno Stacko is the same as Jenga but with a Uno twist.

When We Were Dating

The previous post reminded me of something when Spencer and I were dating, so I thought I'd write it down. I was talking about Spencer leaving me notes. It was harder for me to leave him notes because he was at work when I was off, and he parked in a gated lot.
One day Spencer did something (can't remember what) that needed some payback. For some reason he had been taking home shredded paper in these huge garbage bags. I think that he was going to use them to play a prank on someone. His brother Cameron and I decided to pull the prank on him. We drove over to his work hoping that Spencer had parked outside the gate. Of course he hadn't, and on top of that, he had parked right under a security camera. The fence around BB&T parking lot consists of thin posts sticking straight up and set very close together. At first we tried to squeeze through, but that just did not work. Cameron, who is on the bold side, walked right through the gate, unlocked Spencer's truck, and threw the shredded paper all over the inside. About the same time, a security guard came to the back dock and started yelling, "Hey!" and whistling. Of course, we got scared that he would call the police on us, so we drove off as fast as we could. I think he was scared too because he never tried to walk over to us to stop us. He went and got Spencer and told him that someone was messing with his truck and had put stuff all in the bed of the truck. When he tried to show Spencer how we had messed up the bed of the truck, he looked really stupid because there was nothing in the bed. (The paper had been put in the cab.) The guard said, "It was right here!"
After we got back to his family's house, Cameron and I took the rest of the shredded paper and totally trashed Spencer's room. We felt a little safer doing that.

As you can tell from the picture, we three still like to have a good time messing with each other. This picture was taken at our house a couple of years ago. Looks like Spencer got the raw end of the deal and is trying to get someone back.

A Note to Spencer

When we were dating, Spencer was on second shift. He went into work at the same time I was getting off. Some nights after he got off work, he would swing by my apartment and leave a note on my car. Sometimes I would be awake and hear him drive up. I would peak out the window and see the note and run downstairs and out the door to see what it was he left. I just couldn't wait until the next morning.
We don't leave notes for each other as often as we used to, but occasionally we still do. So, today I would like to leave Spencer a note right here. It won't be too sappy so the rest of you can read it.
Dear Spencer,
Thanks for being such a great husband and dad. I really appreciate all you do for us and how hard you work at making our marriage a good one. Hope you have a great day at work!
Love ya bunches.

HUH?

We went out to eat at Western Sizzlin' after church this morning. Zach kept saying that he wanted a steak, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to get him, so I asked the lady how much a kids' buffet was. She said what sounded like, "Forty cents a ear." I parroted back to her, "Forty cents a ear?" She said, " Yes." I was like, okay..... I guess that means per kid. She then asked for the age of each of our kids. When we got to the table, I looked at the receipt, and the meal cost $1.60 for Brittany who is now four, and $2.oo for Zach. I was thinking, how in the world did they come up with that? Spencer took a look at the receipt, and figured it out. They charge $.40 per year!
Hence, Brittany's cost and Zach's cost. Have you ever heard of anything like that before???????
Spencer had thought the woman had said "Forty cents a ear" too. Either way you look at it, Forty cents a ear or a year, is a little strange to me!!!!!

Family Fun 1

Last night we hula hooped and played a VERY simplified version of Win, Lose, or Draw.

This is a picture of our kids at Papa and Mema's house.

Happenings in the Bathroom

The other day Brittany starting screaming hysterically. I ran to the bathroom to see what was wrong. She realized that she had gone to the bathroom with a strawberry shortcake doll IN the toilet. Evidentally, Sierra had thrown it in there along with a piece of bread. I wasn't about to stick my hand in there to rescue the doll, so I flushed the toilet figuring that the doll would stay in place like the quarters had that Sierra had also put in the toilet a few days ago. I was wrong. When I pushed the lever, the doll disappeared, and Brittany was really traumatized. I was too because the toilet wouldn't flush right after that. I had the kids use our bathroom until Spencer could get a snake auger to take care of the problem. The kids did a great job remembering to use the other bathroom until last night. I walked by the bathroom and about gagged when I saw the toilet. Zach said, "Mom, I needed to go stinky really bad and couldn't get to your bathroom fast enough, so I went in this one." Poor Spencer, he had quite a nasty job, but he did get the clog unstuck.
Also, several people at work have been telling Spencer about a job opening. They kept telling him he should try for the job, but he just ignored them until he found out that the manager with the job opening was asking around about him and his work. Well, when Spencer was in the bathroom the other day, that manager happened to be there too. He told Spencer that he had been planning on getting in touch with Spencer and wanted to know if he could meet at 9:30 on the following Monday for an interview. Spencer thought that the bathroom was a wierd place to be discussing such matters, but he agreed to the interview. We are still waiting to see what comes of everything. It would be a job doing a lot of programming and web designing which Spencer would love, but he is also happy in his current position. We'll see what the Lord has happen!

Brittany and Taylor

Brittany and friend, Taylor, opening presents. We met Taylor and her brother Brice because of Pizza Inn. We eat there almost every Sunday night with Spencer's parents. Brice and Zach are the same age and have played together at Pizza Inn since they were about two years old. That's one way to make friends!Posted by Picasa

Cameron's B-day was on Monday. Poor guy! His mom didn't have time to go get him a cake, so she asked us to bring what was left of Brittany's cake. A half -eaten, pink cake for a 24 year old male....... He said he was glad pink is the new black! Posted by Picasa

Brittany's B-Day

Finally had Brittany's birthday party. Notice all the boys? I used to feel sorry for Zach because he was the only boy in our family. Now I feel sorry for Brittany because there aren't a whole lot of girls for her to play with!

The boys on top of the slide are second cousins on Spencer's side. Do they look related? How many of you know your cousins' children? Posted by Picasa

Spencer and I at His Parents' House

Busy Again

We had VBS all last week. I taught a combined class of 2-5 year olds. That was a real challenge. It really helped when one of the teenage girls would watch the 2 year olds for us. We had a mostly boys class which of course meant high energy. Several of the boys from Zach's soccer team came.
This week is supposed to be a bit of a slow-down. Of course, Brittany's birthday was Monday, and we spent a majority of the day at my in-laws for the 4th. Last night we all met my mom to watch fireworks. They were pretty sorry. After they were over with, we went back to Spencer's parents' place and Cameron set off a bunch of fireworks. They were almost as good as the professional show. We left there about 10:45 last night. Tonight is church, and Saturday we are taking the teenagers somewhere.
Next week, we have homecoming revival all week long; then it will be time to pull my house back together until the first full week of August when we have Camp Meeting...more on that later.

Happy Birthday, Brittany

July 3rd is Brittany's birthday. Mema is planning a party for her this year, and it has not yet happened. We tried to make her day special for her by getting her a Strawberry Shortcake cake and sharing it with my mom. After Brittany opened her presents and played a little, we took her and our other children to a carnival that is set up for the 4th of July holiday. They had a great time.
