College Friends

Met up with some college friends today at Chic-Fil-A. Had to have somewhere for the kids to play:)

Are they allowed to do that?

The other night the restaraunt we usually eat at on Sunday nights was practically empty. The manager that night decided that the kids would like to be pushed around in the rolling high chair. I think they about knocked down the Christmas tree in the process. I'm not sure what
t0 the other customers thought.

Tea Party!

Last night Zach went out with his grandparents, and Brittany was really bored. Finally, she decided we needed to have a tea party. I wasn't really in the mood, but to make her happy, I consented. She and Sierra dressed up in their Princess clothes, hats, and church shoes. Sierra's outfit was quite interesting as you can see in the picture. Brittany made me dress up in church clothes. I tried to stay in my socks instead of wearing church shoes but quickly found out that I did not pass inspection. So back to my room I went to get the appropriate shoe wear. After everyone was properly outfitted, we had sausage, cheese, and crackers, and just a tad of sweet tea.

Family Fun--Sorta

We took Zach and Brittany with us to see a play put on by the city Arts Council and youth of our town called "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." If you've ever read the book you'll know what I'm talking about. My sister Sarah and one of her best friends Sarah were in the play-which is another story in itself. We let the baby and Sierra stay with Papa and Mema while were out. Zach was very upset that we made him go with us, but in the end he really had a great time. He started feeling better as soon as he got some food in his stomach at Chic-Fil-A, and it only got better from there. After the play we ran to Wal-Greens and ran into one of Zach's friends. As you can see in the video that he was totally enjoying himself by the end of the night.

Kids Are So Cute

My mother-in-law and I teach PeeWee Patch at our church on Wednesday nights. Our latest dilemma has been how to teach the little ones (2 & 3 year olds) who Jesus is, and why we celebrate Christmas. Since Jesus came to save us from our sins, we started out explaining that sin is the bad things we do and giving examples of sin. When the little boy in the above picture was asked if he sins, he said, "No." Then he looked up with that cute little grin that he has in the picture and said, "Oh, yes, yes. I climb up on the counter and get blue chewing gum."
I'm assuming that's without permission. :)

Taped

At our Christmas banquet this last Saturday evening, four ladies raced to see who could make their husband the best snowman in five minutes. My in-laws are in the first part of the video. Notice he gets what could almost be classified as a punch in the stomach, but the funniest part is the other couple. I think she really enjoyed taping her husband's face!

And is that tall guy supposed to be helping his wife by unrolling the toilet paper for her?! That was nice of him wasn't it?

Our Cutie-two months old

Kid number four and we're still proud parents.

Around Town II

I've been trying to remember to take my camera with me when I leave the house. Friday evening, it paid off when we followed a fire truck to a house fire. I know that's not what you're supposed to do, but when you have a 6 year old in the back wanting to go where the fire engine is going, how can you resist! It happened to be a big enough fire to be written about in our local paper. When we got there, I saw flames coming out the front window and coming out of the eaves around back. However, I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of that as Spencer drove past.
Saturday, I forgot to take my camera with me and really regretted it. At the stop light facing us was an old time fire truck with the fire captain sitting up high driving it. He was on his way to the local Christmas parade.

Chitlins

Spencer likes to try weird stuff as well as just food he's never eaten before. One thing he's always wanted to try is chitlins.

First time around (5 or 6 years ago).....his grandparents bought him a container of them and he tried heating them up in the microwave. What a horrible stench!!!!!!!!! I don't think he even tried to taste them. We tried everything to get that smell out of the microwave. I think baking soda water heated in the microwave worked after several tries........ and then vanilla water and then cinnamon water.

The other day, we were at a restaraunt that serves chitlins, and Spencer said he'd like to try them thinking that they were fried. They came to the table boiled and putting off a very foul odor. The side dish then became the dinner dare. Brittany took the first dare and didn't do too bad other than spewing out her soda that she had sipped as she put the food in her mouth. Zach and Spencer badgered each other and said, "I'll do it if you do it." Spencer went first and almost choked and spit the chitlins into his napkin. He then made Zach keep his promise. The only problem was that Spencer had to run Zach to the bathroom because he almost threw up right there on the table. Everyone at our table was laughing as were the people at the table behind us. Spencer said the chitlins tasted like sucking on an enema. How gross is that?! How would he know that anyway. :)
As for me I didn't bother even trying them, but my mother-in-law said they actually tasted good if you could get past the smell. I'll just take her word for it.

Reason to get a new iron

The other day, I was ironing and needed more water in the iron for steam. There was a cup that Spencer had left on the fireplace by the iron that had water in it, so I dumped it in the iron. The next thing I know, there's a strange, sweet smell coming from the iron. I thought it had something to do with the new taffeta dress I was ironing for Sierra. The next morning, I found out what the real problem was when Spencer came into our room a little on the irritated side. He was trying to touch up his suit jacket for church that morning when this brown, sticky stuff started oozing out of the steam holes in the iron onto his jacket. I guess that cup of water on the fireplace had more than water in it. Come to find out, it was one of Spencer's sweet tea glasses with melted ice water. Even though the tea was gone, there was still enough sugar to burn in my iron.

Happy Birthday, Sierra

I know there are technical difficulties with the word placement, but I'm tired of messing with it, so you'll just have to put up with it. :)

Papa and Mema gave Sierra a birthday party this year. The theme was Old MacDonald's Farm. Mema went all out for this one, and everyone had a great time.

A signature Sierra expression. Did you notice that she was dressed for the event?

The decor:

Picture table of the guest of honor

The corral

Inside the corral

The kids got to ride toy animals as well as imaginary ones. See the kids riding the hay horse?

The kids got to drive the tractor too......and ride (That's Sarah)

Some ranch hands

Roping sheep

and riding horses

Games:

Slop eating contest

I think the slop was so good...

The adults even had to try it.

That's not how you're supposed to do the limbo!

Sierra had a great time. She kept singing Happy Birthday to Me after it was all over with.

Bug Eyes

This is actually for Mema to see. Brittany has baby pictures where her eyes looked too big for her face, and it looks like Addison may carry on the tradition.

We went to a city festival. Here's some pictures from there.

They said the baby changing station was this way. The bale of hay was the only thing I could find. Of course, I HAD to take a picture of that.

Here's a real smile from Addison.

See my pretty flowers from Spencer?

Around Town

I have decided to start taking my camara with me whenever I go out of the house...if I remember it. The first time I did this I was not disappointed. I got a pic of a gas pump that had been run into and I don't know if you can really see it, a tricycle in the middle of the road. (We circled that thing 5 times trying to get a good pic and just couldn't.) If you click on the pic it will be shown in a bigger image. By the fifth time around, the tricycle had been bumped to the side of the road.

Haven't had a lot of time to blog lately, so while I'm cleaning up pee and vomit, giving a little kid a bath, feeding a baby, finishing school for the day, and trying to wash dishes and laundry, I'll let you relax for me and look at these pictures.

Family Fun

I haven't written a post on our family fun nights in a whileand thought I'd tell you some of the things we've been doing lately.

The latest fad for the kids is going to the park. The one pictured above is one of their new favorites....mostly because of the play house that's there as well as the sand pit. This park is actually in front of out hospital and has a walking track around it which Zach enjoys.

Here are some other things we have done lately. Sometimes we all go to Books A Million and look at books together. One night the kids thought Starbucks sounded good, so we went there and let the three of them split a coffee. The kids also love ice cream as well as watching a movie. We usually borrow one from our public library. The other night, Spencer set off a bunch of left over fire works and popped popcorn on the stove in one of those prepackaged pans. The kids were scared the bag was going to explode all over the kitchen..........probably because of their dad's insinuations:)

For those of you who know Anthony and Sandra, here is a video clip and a printed article on the dog attack on Christian.

For those of you who don't know Anthony and Sandra, let me explain. Anthony was the music and youth director at our church for seven years. They are also really good friends of ours. Their son was attacked by a bull mastiff the other day.
